American Cell Phone Drive Extends Ambitious Earth Day Cell Phone Recycling Goal
Edmond, OK (PRWEB) April 28, 2007 -- To celebrate earth day, one organization has set an ambitious cell phone recycling goal. American Cell Phone Drive (http://www.americancellphonedrive.org), the largest cell phone recycling organization in the world, made plans to collect 100,000 phones to be refurbished and recycled before Earth Day on April 22 and has now extended the Earth Day collection campaign to May 1st in an effort to collect an additional 10,000 cell phone donations.
Every day a staggering number of cell phones end up in landfills. These phones often contain toxic chemicals that can damage the environment if they are not disposed of correctly. Cell phone recycling allows many of these phones to be repaired and reused, reducing the amount of material in the landfills. Phones that are beyond repair can be disposed of in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
CEO Tom Pace is firmly committed to making positive changes to society. "My goal is to make sure that every person who comes in contact with us benefits in a positive way. When your actions are guided by love, hope, and faith you can change the world."
American Cell Phone Drive tries to make cell phone recycling as easy as possible for people who want to help. They have over 4,000 charitable organizations throughout the country that serve as drop off centers. The company then buys the cell phones from the non-profit agencies to be refurbished and recycled to individuals in developing countries.
Pace says that many people have at least one old cell phone in a drawer or garage that serves no functional purpose any longer, but in the past have had no incentive to recycle it. "When people donate a phone at one of our drop-off centers, they're not only keeping these toxic chemicals out of the landfills, they are also putting money in the pockets of their favorite charities and giving a hand-up to others in developing countries," says Pace.
The American Cell Phone Drive team settled on 100,000 as an ambitious but reachable goal of total number of phones to be collected by Earth Day 2007 and reached a majority of their target. By extending the campaign 10 additional days, Pace says he believes he can meet that target and more. He also hopes to set a new standard for donation that will continue well past Earth Day.
Those who wish to participate in the donation program can help raise money for their favorite organization by visiting http://www.americancellphonedrive.org, and entering their zip code to find a local drop off center. Any cell phone can be donated, even ones that don't work.
About American Cell Phone Drive: American Cell Phone Drive is the largest cell phone recycling drive in the world. The organization has over 4,000 partners who accept donations of cell phones, regardless of age or condition.

When you're shopping around for an IP-based video surveillance system, you
will need to be particularly cautious about what exactly you're looking at and
what the individual terms mean. How IP-based video surveillance works is open to
interpretation as far as some video surveillance and security salespeople are

is no genuine consensus on what the term "IP-based" or related ones such as
"networked" or "web-based" means.
